One thing you’ll learn about living on the Suncoast: almost no one is ‘from’ here … nearly everyone in this wonderful place is a transplant from somewhere else. I’m no exception.
I was born and raised in Columbus Ohio, where many members of my big family (7 sisters and 1 brother), still live. I studied Journalism at The Ohio State University (go Bucks!) and got my first big professional break in 1980 when I joined the staff of a weekly newspaper in Springfield IL.
From 1980-1990 I served as Advertising Director and GM of a weekly newspaper, Illinois Times. My job was to develop advertising and marketing programs for business customers and to train others to do the same. Ten years in Illinois lead to 12 years of publishing / consulting gigs in garden spots like Santa Fe, Colorado Springs and Scottsdale. Along the way I produced jazz festivals (great fun) and owned my own direct marketing publication. In 2002 I returned to Springfield to become part owner and publisher of the very same newspaper where my career began. When I reached my second 10 year anniversary I knew it was time to find a new adventure. In late 2012 I sold my interest in the paper and by March of 2013 I started a new career (real estate!) in paradise… I mean Sarasota.
Over my adult life I’ve bought and sold about a dozen homes of my own, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to learn that I am good at selling real estate! I enjoy every minute living here and working at the Coldwell Banker Office at St Armand’s Circle, where I meet people from all around the US and the world who’ve discovered this lovely place. My business background helps me stay ahead of the ‘details’ which can be tricky – and I’m fortunate to have developed a strong support system of attorneys, insurance agents and inspectors who share their expertise to bring contracts to closing. I’ve been blessed with great success and many referrals after just a couple of years in the real estate biz. And I’m just getting started!
What’s fun? I’m a flower gardener (and how great is it that flowers bloom all year round here). I enjoy live theater, jazz, the Sarasota Film Society and hanging out with friends at the beach. My two cats, Lucy and Maggie, live with me in a cozy villa about 10 minutes from downtown Sarasota. Every day is a good day here!
My daughter Sarah and her husband D’Arcy live in Ottawa, Canada and have blessed me with two beautiful grandchildren, Lynley Rose and Dax. While I visit with them more often on Skype than face to face it is such a blessing to have such a happy, healthy family. I’m very lucky.
Please let me know how I can help YOU. Send email, text or dial my cell phone anytime!
